School graduation
In the northern hemisphere school kids started their summer vacation many weeks ago. For those who sat exams for their final year, the past weeks since the results have been released has been the real start of the next phase of their lives.
For some the results have been a source of celebration and others disappointment.
Irrespective of the ‘mark’ you receive – finishing school is a landmark event in any person’s life. Childhood is definitely over and the start of real adulthood is ahead. Many have made choices about future careers, studies and direction. I wish I’d been a little more planned in my approach to this important phase of life, and spent some time really thinking about all the things I wanted to do.
I found this list in a diary that I am using this year, and it lists the key areas of your life. The key areas are – in no particular order:
-
family
-
money
-
career
-
rest and relaxation
-
creativity
-
health and fitness
-
love and romance
-
spirituality
-
friends and social life.
This important junction in your life perhaps calls for some thought on all the things you’d like to achieve. By considering all of the key areas listed above you have a better chance of having a more balanced end result, which hopefully will be a happier outcome. So spend some of your summer break thinking about this. And if you’re bold and serious enough, make a contract with yourself. Commit to your goals. And also enjoy what’s left of your summer break.
